I couldn’t help but go red-faced, embarrassed was an understatement…

I was in a meeting last year.

They mentioned, almost in passing, that they’d just had their entire company rebranded.

New logo. New business cards. New flyers. New shop signage. The whole thing.

I said: “We do that.”

Pause.

“Wait… you do branding?”

This was an EXISTING client. Someone who’d been working with me for months. Someone who followed me on social media.

And they had no idea.

Here’s what hit me in that moment:

If my own clients don’t know what I do, what hope have I got with everyone else?

The uncomfortable truth about business owners:

We’re too big-headed.

Not in an arrogant way. In a “we think everyone knows who we are” way.

We post once about a service and assume everyone saw it. We mention something in passing and think people remembered. We put it on our website and tick the box.

Job done. Everyone knows now, right?

Wrong.

People forget. FAST.

They scroll past your posts while thinking about what’s for dinner.

They miss your stories because they were on a call.

They don’t read your bio because they get distracted.

You’re not on their mind as much as you think you are.

And the second they need what you offer?

They don’t think of you.

Because they forgot you existed.

So what’s the fix?

Stop assuming people know who you are and what you do.

Keep reminding them.

Over and over again.

Here are 3 posts that work to keep you visible and front of mind:

1. Trust Trigger Image

Screenshot a good review email, a WhatsApp message from a happy client, or a quick testimonial and overlay it on a selfie of you.

Post it with a simple caption showing the process of how you helped this client.

Why it works: Shows you’re actively working, delivering results, getting praised. Reminds people you exist without you having to say “hire me.”

2. Answer an FAQ from this week (not last year)

Pick the question you get asked most and answer it properly.

Text post, carousel, or video.

Why it works: Positions you as the expert. When someone else asks that question, they’ll remember YOU answered it. That’s how you stay top of mind.

3. Case Study (as a Reel)

Tell a recent client story. Face to camera. 30-60 seconds.

The problem they had. What you did. What changed.

Why it works: Adds personality. Shows real experience. People remember stories way more than polished corporate content.

The lesson?

You’re not as famous as you think you are.

Your clients aren’t thinking about you when they’re scrolling Instagram at 10pm.

Your followers aren’t remembering what you posted three weeks ago.

If you want to stay front of mind, you need to keep showing up.

Not once. Not occasionally.

Consistently.

Because the moment you stop reminding people you exist?

They’ll forget.

And reach out to someone else.
