January is the worst time for social media.
It’s brutal.
Everyone’s on a detox.
Your engagement will tank.
And every business on the planet just woke up with the same:
“New year, New Me, I’m going to post every day” strategy
So why am I telling you that now is the PERFECT time to start posting?
It’s because nobody’s watching.
I started my business in the middle of a pandemic.
The owner of the estate agency I had just left said no one will need social media.
And that it was the worst decision I’d ever make.
Except it wasn’t. While everyone else was paralysed, I was practising.
By the time things “got better,” I already had momentum.
January works in EXACTLY the same way.
Your posts might get half the views they’d get in February.
You won’t get any likes.
But here’s what’s actually happening:
You’re building the muscle memory.
You’re finding your own voice.
You’re figuring out what stories to tell when the pressure’s off.
By the time February hits and everyone else has already quit their New Year’s resolution to “post more,” you’ll have a month of reps under your belt.
You’ll know what works for YOU.
And your audience – the ones who actually stuck around in January – they’re the real ones.
They’re paying attention when nobody else is.
So yes, your numbers will look rubbish for a few weeks.
But you’re not playing the January game.
You’re playing the long game.
And that starts now.
Here are 3 posts to get you started:
1. Case study post –
Tell the story of a case that sticks in your mind.
Do this as a face-to-camera video if you’re feeling brave, or just a photo of you with a caption about how you helped your client.
2. Share a customer review
Let someone else do the talking for you.
3. Answer your most asked FAQ from 2025
Do this as a carousel.
That’s it.
Three posts.
No fancy strategy.
Just you, showing up.
Chris – January practice for 2026 domination.
