The other night, I was sinking into my sofa, phone in hand, doing that thing we all do when the nights start drawing in.

You know the ritual.

Doom-scrolling, thumb on autopilot, watching other people’s highlight reels while your brain quietly zones out.

Then my phone buzzed.

A DM popped up from someone I’d never interacted with before.

No likes.

They’d never watched my stories or engaged with a single post.

The message said: “You’re just what I’ve been looking for!”

A mortgage advisor.

Looking for social media help.

And she was certain I was the one.

Here’s what made me sit up straight:

This person had just stumbled onto my profile, probably through a referral or a reel.

They didn’t know me.

They’d never consumed my content.

All they did was land on my profile page and within minutes, maybe seconds, they knew exactly who I was, what I did, and how I could help them.

Just instant recognition and instant action.

And I’ll be honest – it felt bloody brilliant

Because it meant I’d finally figured out something most people get completely wrong…

Most people treat their social media profiles like digital business cards.

A bio that says “Mortgage Adviser” or “Estate Agent in Smithsville” with a link to their homepage.

Totally useless.

When someone lands on your profile, you’ve got maybe five seconds before they bounce.

Use the W.R.A.P Framework for your bio to make them stay (or even reach out:

Who you help & where – The more niche the better

Role/USP – What do you help people with?

Authority – Why are you authorised to do so?

Prompt – What action do you want them to take?

Beneath this should be a link to your contact page or a free download.

That’s it, nothing complicated.

Stop wasting those 5 seconds.

Make them count.

Here’s to bios that convert.
