For Valentine’s Week, I’m going to show you how you can make your audience fall head over heels with your business on social media. 🥰
All without the need for a dozen roses or a cheesy poem! 🌹
Most mortgage advisers fail because they’re always trying to sell to their audience, instead of getting them to start ‘dating’ them with the content they post.
You wouldn’t get married after a first date, so don’t expect your audience to do the same.
A potential client will rarely follow you one day and book an appointment the next.
We need to help them fall in love with us by earning their attention and winning their trust. 🤝
Here are five simple but powerful ways to create that spark with your audience this Valentine’s Day:
(Tip: Without putting number 5 into action the first 4 are pointless)
1. Share a Love Story ❤️
Everyone loves a good love story, especially around Valentine’s Day
Have you helped a couple buy their first home together? 🏡
Got them a mortgage when their bank had said no?
Maybe one of your clients even proposed on their new doorstep 💍
These real-life moments are proof of the amazing work you do and they shouldn’t just be sitting in a WhatsApp message.
These are real-life success stories about how good you are at getting the job done, so start shouting about them. 📣
Today upload a photo post with a heartfelt written caption about how you helped this couple buy their first home together.
2. Let Them Get to Know You 👋
Would you go on a date with someone without knowing a little about them first?
Probably not! 👎
The same applies to your social media presence.
How can you expect someone to entrust you with their mortgage, if they know nothing about you?
Share snippets of your life—your family, pets, hobbies, or what you love most about being a mortgage adviser. 🤩
Remember people buy from people, and the better they know you as a person, the more likely they are to slide into your DMs for a mortgage appointment. 😏
3. Get Engaged (No Ring Required!) 💍
Engagement is key to building relationships.
There’s a whole host of ways you can drive engagement on your social media channels.
Use Instagram Stories tools like polls or Q&As to get people talking.
The best part is these tools are anonymous to the rest of your audience, so people can reply honestly without feeling like they’re being judged.
If you’re on LinkedIn, try posting a poll to encourage interaction. The more conversations you start, the stronger the trust! 🤝
But remember don’t make them all about business, like “Is your fixed rate ending this year?” ❌
They won’t garner the same engagement as a poll that asks What they think the soppiest love film is! ✅
4. Make Them Swipe Right on Your Content 📲
No, we’re not talking about Tinder! 😂
But carousel posts (where people swipe through multiple images) can keep your audience engaged longer.
The more time they spend interacting with your content, the better your chances of showing up in their feed more often!
5. Dating Isn’t a One-Way Street 🚗
A date where one person does all the talking isn’t fun for anyone, but if you only do the 4 steps listed above, that’s what it will feel like for your audience.
Instead of relying on them to do all the chatting, voting and engaging, you need to repay the favour!
If they comment, reply with something more than just “Thank You” 😬
If they vote on the story about the soppiest film, send them a message telling them you 100% agree that the Notebook gets you every time!😢
Please don’t leave it all down to your audience, you’ll be ghosted like I was after a first date back in 2013 😂
By implementing these five simple strategies, you can build deeper connections with your audience and increase engagement across your social media platforms.
And who knows? This Valentine’s Day, you might just find a few new *business soulmates* ready to work with you!
