The best LinkedIn advice I ever got came from a man selling knock-off sunglasses on a beach.

He didn’t know he was giving it. 

But here we are.

My brother’s stag do in Benidorm. 17 guys at a beach bar where, every ten minutes, someone walks past with sunglasses balanced on their arm or hats stacked on their head.

You know these people. 

You’ve seen them on every holiday you’ve ever been on. 

Same beach, different country. 

Sunglasses on one arm, knock-off bags on the other, a tower of hats balanced on their head that somehow never falls.

Most people shake their head and look back at their phone. 

The 17 of us had other plans.

My brother ended up wearing 17 stacked hats, fake designer shades, 7 necklaces, and holding a bag none of us could explain. 

We bought something from almost every seller who came over. 

And once one of them spotted us, they all came over.

These people work hard. 

They show up every day to the same beach. 

They get ignored far more than they get a sale. 

They get a no, and immediately pivot to the next thing. 

The hat didn’t land? Try the glasses. 

The glasses didn’t land? Here’s a keyring.

They don’t post once and hope for the best. 

They show up tomorrow as well.

That is the LinkedIn strategy most advisers are missing.

Consistent posting. 

A profile that’s set up to be found. 

Engaging with the right people. 

Presenting your value again and again until the right person at the bar finally buys something.

The fake Ray Ban guy has never once thought “I’ll skip today, nobody’s buying.” 

He shows up. Every single day.
