Seems a bit counterintuitive, a social media agency telling you why you shouldn’t generate business online doesn’t it.

Today I’m going to discuss strategies that you can implement, which don’t involve using your Wifi! 📶

Some strategies are what I like to call ‘quick wins’ others take a bit more planning.

By putting these plans into action, you’re no longer just relying on one channel to generate business, you’ll have more than one tool in your armoury!

The problem is people see social media as the ‘silver bullet’ a means to all ends, the knight in shining armour when it comes to generating business. 🛡️

Social media should be in addition to other lead generating practices, rather than the be all, end all for getting new business.

Most mortgage advisers don’t leave their laptop! 🧑‍💻

Remember, “thinking local before national” is not just a mantra but a strategic approach to business growth. 📈

Before taking over the UK, we first need to think closer to home.

By fostering relationships with neighbouring businesses, participating in local events, and investing in your community, you create a foundation for sustainable growth that online-only ventures struggle to replicate.

An impactful approach is looking to sponsor local events:

  • A School Fete 🎪
  • A Football Club (there will be lots of kids clubs looking for sponsorships for the new season) ⚽️
  • Brownies or Cubs that need some investment 🧸

When choosing your event/club to sponsor think of your target market. 🎯

Children’s clubs are great, as it’s normally where parents will gather on a Saturday morning, coffee in hand, willing their ‘little Johnny’ along to score a goal!

These types of partnerships act as magnets for your target audience. 🤝

Drawing in a diverse crowd and offering an excellent platform to build real relationship.

By associating your brand with community events, you not only enhance your visibility, but also demonstrate your commitment to supporting local causes.

This fosters a sense of loyalty among your neighbours, who are more likely to choose your business over online alternatives.

You should get your hair cut more often!💇

Another effective way to bolster your local presence is by forging partnerships with nearby establishments, such as hairdressers, barbers, and other businesses that attract high footfall.

In our hectic, fast paced lives, where else would you sit down and have an uninterrupted 30min conversation with someone? 💬

The barbers is more than likely the only place this happens.

Sponsoring a barbers, or even just putting up a flyer can spark a conversation between barber and client about their house move or their current mortgage struggles. 🏡

The hair expert is much more likely to recommend you if you’ve already built that relationship through a sponsor.

Collaborating with these local businesses enables you to tap into their existing customer base, cross-promote each other’s offerings, and create a powerful network of referrals.

So this week, why not swap out your daily scroll on social media for a stroll down your high street and engage with some local businesses, or pick up the phone to a local sports team and get your logo on the front of their shirts!
