Today I’m going to teach you how to set up your social media channels for success in 2024. You may have a little more time on your hands the next month, so it’s the perfect time to take action. 🚀

Your social media profile is your business’s shop window, you need to use it to showcase who you are, how you can help and how they can reach you.

As with all windows, they need a good clean now and again! 🧽

Most people fail because they set up a Facebook Page, or an Instagram Profile (because they’re told they must, to generate business) but don’t do anything after the initial sign-up and leave it to gather dust.

They start posting and that’s that, a mediocre social media profile is born and never changes! 😢

Use the festive slowdown to make these changes and ensure 2024 is successful.

I’m going to tell you how to optimise each social media channel, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to do them all – remember that!

“Jack of all trades, master of none” as they say! 👀

Facebook:

  • Increase your chance of turning lurkers, into leads with your “Call To Action Button” You can personalise this to your WhatsApp number, a calendar booking link or simply to message you. 📲
  • Ensure all your essential information is up to date: Phone Number, Email Address, Website, Services.
  • Update your ‘About’ section to show off your skills, experience and the local areas that you cover (people are more likely to do business with someone who’s local.) 📍
  • Use your cover photo to advertise your services, it’s your very own billboard, so use it!
  • Upload a professional headshot as your profile picture and incorporate your brand colour if you can in the background.

BONUS:

Use the ‘Featured’ section to highlight the posts you want your audience to see, show off your most informative content here.

(On the desktop version it’s just beneath the What’s On Your Mind? Section)

Instagram:

  • Use the same headshot as your Facebook Page to ensure brand consistency. ✅
  • Use keywords in your bio that apply to your audience.
  • Convert your business from a personal account to a business account so you can link it to your Facebook Page: Learn How To Here
  • Ensure you display the right service in your bio.
  • Capitalise on the ‘Show Address’ feature if you have an office location. 📍
  • Set up a LinkTree (I show you how to do it here) to allow your audience to visit more than one link. 🤩

BONUS:

Share the most valuable pieces of content to your highlights, which will appear on your profile.

These pieces of content would normally disappear after 24 hours on Stories, but on the Highlights section they’ll stay until you delete them.

Your highlights are shown just above your Grid posts:

LinkedIn:

  • Use a high-quality, professional-looking profile picture, incorporating your brand colours if you can. 👤
  • Craft a headline that clearly communicates your role, expertise, and value proposition.
  • Write a comprehensive and compelling “About” section. Highlight your professional journey, skills, and achievements as a mortgage adviser.
  • Incorporate relevant keywords throughout your profile. Think about the terms people might use when searching for a mortgage adviser (if you’re targeting a niche this may be easier.) 🔎
  • Use the “Featured” section to showcase your work, articles, presentations, or any media that supports your achievements. (This is similar to the Facebook Featured section.)
  • Ask for recommendations from your peers, or past clients that can act as social proof on your LinkedIn profile. 🏆

TikTok:

  • Choose a clear and concise username, with specific keywords if possible.
  • TikTok is all about visibility to make sure your headshot is big bold and on brand! 😍
  • Describe exactly who you are and what you do in your bio, it’s shorter than you think so get clever!
  • Use hashtags in your bio to increase your chances of being found by your ideal clients. 👀

By following the specific tips for each platform, you can enhance your visibility, engage your audience effectively, and set the stage for a successful 2024. 🎉
